1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or using GearForge (gearforge.online), hereinafter referred to as the "Service," you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately discontinue use of the Service.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and GearForge ("we," "our," or "us").

2. Description of Service

GearForge provides free online gear generator tools that allow users to:

  • Design various types of mechanical gears (spur, flat/rack, internal, helical, bevel, rack & pinion) with customizable parameters
  • Preview gear designs in real-time through interactive canvas renderings
  • Export gear designs in multiple formats (SVG, PNG, DXF)
  • Access educational blog content related to gear engineering

All gear generation tools run entirely client-side (in your web browser). No gear data is transmitted to or stored on our servers.

3. Use License

3.1 Permitted Uses

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Use the gear generator tools for personal, educational, and commercial purposes
  • Download and use exported SVG, PNG, and DXF files without restriction or royalty
  • Share links to our tools and content with others
  • Use generated gear designs in manufacturing, prototyping, or any other application

3.2 Prohibited Uses

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our website source code, design, or functionality
  • Remove any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices from the website
  • Use automated bots, scrapers, or other mechanical means to access or collect data from the Service
  • Attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service or its underlying infrastructure
  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any software component of the Service
  • Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Impersonate any person or entity in connection with the Service

4. Intellectual Property

4.1 Our Property

The GearForge name, logo, website design, source code, visual elements, and all content created by us (including blog posts, documentation, and tool descriptions) are our intellectual property and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

4.2 User-Generated Content

Gear designs created by users using our tools belong entirely to the user. We claim no ownership or license over any gear profiles, parameters, or exported files you generate using our tools.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

While we strive for mathematical accuracy in our gear calculations, we make no guarantees or warranties regarding:

  • The fitness or suitability of generated gear profiles for specific manufacturing or engineering applications
  • The accuracy, completeness, or reliability of generated gear specifications
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Service
  • The compatibility of exported files with specific CAD/CAM software

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GEARFORGE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Manufacturing defects resulting from gear designs generated by our tools
  • Equipment damage or malfunction caused by gears based on our designs
  • Personal injury or property damage arising from use of gear designs
  • Loss of profits, data, business opportunities, or goodwill
  • Any costs of procurement of substitute goods or services

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero).

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GearForge and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

8. Third-Party Services and Links

Our Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of any third-party services. We may use third-party services including Google Analytics for website analytics and Google AdSense for advertising. These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

9. User Content and Communications

When you submit content through our contact form or other communication channels, you represent that you have the right to submit such content and that it does not violate any third party's rights or any applicable laws.

10. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and GearForge regarding the use of the Service.
